Orthodontic braces are used to correct malocclusion and misalignment of the teeth—underbite, overbite, overcrowding, diastema, and cross bite. Braces are tailored to the patient's unique needs to create a beautiful smile. When it comes to orthodontic treatments, there are different options to choose from. Dr. Wall will consult with you to find out what type of treatment will best fit your needs and help move your teeth into the ideal alignment, in the most convenient, functional, and timely manner for you as the patient.

*ATTENTION: Companies are offering "Do it Yourself Braces." It is important to learn all the facts before falling for these marketing schemes and taking a blind leap of faith into a product that may affect the future health of your teeth and outcome of your smile. Do your research and use good judgement before making decisions that could lead to irreversible negative outcomes. CLICK HERE to read a statement by the American Association of Orthodontists.

Stainless Steel Braces

Metal braces are the most common type of braces used. Thanks to technology, today's metal braces are smaller and more comfortable. They are made of high-grade stainless steel. Thus causing the brackets to be strong and durable. With metal braces, you have the option of adding colored elastic ties for a fun and colorful smile!

Ceramic Braces

Clear braces are made of ceramic materials. Because ceramic braces are more fragile, they can chip or break easier when compared to the stainless steel braces. We usually recommend these to patients who have cosmetic concerns. This is a good alternative to Invisalign. Clear braces are less visible on your teeth than metal braces. As a result, most people can't even tell that you are wearing braces!

Clear Retainers

Primarily, clear retainers are made for patients who have just completed their orthodontic treatment. They retain your final results to ensure your smile looks straight and beautiful for as long as you wear your retainers.

Clear retainers can also be used to correct small orthodontic issues. If you’ve stopped wearing or lost your retainer, you may have noticed your teeth begin to shift & become crooked again. Some slight shifts in your teeth and small rotations can be fixed using clear retainers.

Clear retainers can help protect your teeth from nighttime grinding and jaw clenching.

Hawley Appliances

Hawley Appliances are made of clear or colored acrylic and metal wires that are customized to fit more complex orthodontic issues. While some small orthodontic issues can be fixed with clear retainers, some are too difficult, but don’t require braces to fix.

They can also be used to retain your results, but don’t offer the same night time protection as the clear retainers.
